Kolkata – Visit the Jewel of India

Calcutta or also known as Kolkata is located inside the West Bengal state, India. Kolkata actually served as the capital of the country before New Delhi. The capital of India was changed in 1911 because during that time, Kolkata is hard to reach because of the geographical disadvantages. After the change, Kolkata suffered a lot in terms of economic activity because investors change their target to New Delhi for new projects and investments. It is really hard for Kolkata to recover from this situation. After the millennium, Kolkata finally was able to escape from this economic stagnation and over the years, Kolkata can now be quite impressive with how fast it has evolved in 11 years.

It is really easy to rent a car at Kolkata because you can find a lot of car rental companies here. Make sure that you have done your homework so that you know which company is the best one for you to get your car. In India, you will need to drive your car on the left side of the road. Therefore, you must know how to drive at that side and you must also know how to read the road signs here. Make sure that you rent a vehicle that is suitable for your vacation. Do not rent a van if the group you are travelling with comprise of just three persons.

Kolkata is still changing and evolving to become a better place so you can expect that there will be massive constructions at some places. You can still enjoy your time at a lot of places in Kolkata.

One of the attractions here will be the Marble Palace which is built in the 19th century. This palace is now not only known as the place where the kings once resided, but it also houses a museum, an art gallery as well as a private home. The statues and paintings here are really beautiful and it is rare to see this type of attraction anywhere other than Kolkata.

There are a lot of other places in Kolkata and words cannot really describe everything that this place has. You will need to allocate around a week so that you have enough time so visit all the interesting places here.
